During the month of August, typically, people is on vacation or otherwise, busy with the many things to do left behind throughout the year. For this reason also the publication on this blog slows down. But, for (probably) the only one of this month I wanted go “big”, publishing an unusual mix of images taken with pinhole cameras. In addition to the Holga WPC you already know, I used for the first time the “Reality so Subtle” 6×6.
A truly compact pinhole, this RsS, handcrafted built by James Guerin that over the years, has put into production a nice line of different formats pinholes. The 6×6 is the smallest model and is equipped with two holes, one central (as usual) and one offset upwards, to allow more decentralized shots, very useful in certain landscape or architectural subjects. This last hole, in my case, had some minor problems, but James promptly, is arranging it. In September, then, I will get the 4″x 5″version too. I do not exclude, in the future, to also purchase the 6×17 cm version.
The light weight and compact size of 6×6 RSS allow an easy and … intensive use, because we can always take it with us. Easy to load and use, thanks to the decentralized hole is more versatile and creative than other single-hole cameras. I took my first roll with TriX, rated @ 250 ISO but, by mistake, the last two published frames where (given my shaky memory) I was feasting to have loaded a Delta 100 … 
However, TriX reacted well when developed with the Ars Imago-Fd and something … came out. 😉
Regarding the Holga, as many know, it tends to heavily vignetting. The reason is the excessive overhang of the ” lens-like” that surrounds the pinhole. Being completely made of plastic, however, it is easy to make a small change (I used a box cutter) to trim this protruding area that interferes with the wide viewing angle. The results were good, although not perfect so, before loading another roll, I further trimmed the edge to remove a residue bit of “darkening” on the right side of the image.
The photographs come from two different rolls, but both were Pan F developed in Adox FX39. A well tested and affordable couple.

Durante il mese di agosto, in genere, si va in vacanza o comunque, ci si dedica alle molte cose da fare lasciate indietro durante l’anno. Per questo motivo anche la pubblicazione dei post del mio blog subisce un rallentamento. Ma, per (probabilmente) l’unico di questo mese ho voluto fare le cose… in grande, pubblicando un insolito mix d’immagini realizzate con fotocamere pinhole. Oltre alla Holga WPC che già conoscete, ho usato per la prima volta la Reality so Subtle 6×6.
Una pinhole veramente compatta, questa RsS, costruita artigianalmente da James Guerin che, negli anni, ha messo in produzione una bella linea di apparecchi stenopeici di diverse dimensioni. La 6×6 è il modello più piccolo ed è dotata di due fori, di cui uno centrale ed uno disassato verso l’alto, per permettere un’inquadratura più decentrata, molto utile in certi scatti paesaggistici o architettonici. Quest’ultimo foro, nel mio caso, ha avuto qualche piccolo problema, ma James prontamente, me lo sta sistemando. A settembre poi, mi arriverà anche la versione 4″x 5″. Non escludo, in futuro, di acquistare anche la versione 6×17 cm.
La leggerezza e l’ingombro ridotto della RsS 6×6 ne permettono un uso facile ed… intensivo, perché possiamo facilmente portarla con noi. Semplice da caricare ed usare, grazie al foro decentrato risulta più versatile e creativa di altri modelli a foro unico. Il mio primo rullo l’ho scattato con la TriX, esposta a 250 Iso tranne, per errore, gli ultimi due fotogrammi dove (data la mia traballante memoria) ero convito di aver caricato una Delta 100… Comunque, la TriX ha reagito bene una volta sviluppata con l’Ars-Imago Fd e qualcosa è… venuto fuori. 😉
Per quanto riguarda la Holga, come molti sanno, tende a vignettare pesantemente. Il motivo è dato dall’eccessiva sporgenza del simil-obiettivo che circonda il foro stenopeico. Essendo completamente costruita in plastica, è però facile effettuare una piccola modifica (io ho usato un taglierino) per rifilare questa zona sporgente che interferisce con l’ampio angolo di campo. I risultati sono stati buoni, anche se non perfetti per cui, prima di caricare un altro rullo, ho rifilato ulteriormente il bordo per eliminare un residuo di “scurimento” sulla parte destra dell’immagine.
Le fotografie provengono da due rulli diversi, ma entrambi su Pan F sviluppata in Adox FX39. Un’accoppiata ormai ben testata e di sicuro affidamento.
